Reflective Surfaces with Pastel Pencils | Lyn Diefenbach

Reflective Surfaces with Pastel Pencils | Lyn Diefenbach

A fun, one day workshop to introduce you gently into the wonderful world of reflections using pastel pencils. Lyn will provide a photograph and use an easy-to-understand step-by-step process from beginning to end.

You will also receive a short video on the “fundamentals of painting” to equip you for the class, valued at $20.

The Workshop described in Lyn’s own words

I’ve been using pastel pencils for the last year or so as previously I only used soft pastels. I hadn’t previously found a purpose for pencils as I’ve always managed to get a fine mark and as much detail as I needed from the soft pastels. However, I had the opportunity to do a pastel pencil portrait workshop with Cuong Nguyen and found the whole process incredibly meditative so I decided to investigate further.

It seems to be a quieter occupation just as graphite drawing is. I sit instead of stand, I work on a much smaller scale and there is minimal dust. The space that I need is so much more compact and it’s very easy to pack up and take with me when I’m out and about.

For those with a busy lifestyle, family commitments, who are short on space or simply wanting to get into some painting without having to outlay a lot of money it is the perfect answer. Besides which, it is just plain fun.

For the workshop on reflective surfaces, we’ll be working from a photograph of a simple still life setup. I will work in a step-by-step process which will be perfect for beginners and be giving you heaps of info (as always) which translates into every aspect of painting no matter what the media.

So, sharpen those pencils and get set for a joyful day of creativity.
