Portrait and Life Drawing in Graphite | Andrew Bonneau
Join 2017 Archibald prize finalist and nationally recognised realist artist, Andrew Bonneau, for 3 days of portrait and life drawing instruction.
Andrew will introduce you to an approach to drawing that has its roots in the European academic tradition. He will give you the tools to approach any subject with confidence and truly extend your knowledge and ability in representational drawing.
All aspects of portraiture and life drawing will be discussed and demonstrated.
The same portrait model will continue the pose the next day for the Portrait from Life in Graphite/Oils workshop to provide students the opportunity to develop their drawing further.
What will I learn?
The day will be divided into portraits in the morning followed by life drawing in the afternoon. The same 2 models will pose for all three days. In this workshop students will develop two drawings
You will explore in depth aspects of drawing such as proportion, gesture, anatomy, light and shade, conceptualising form and perspective. The aim will be to produce drawings that are proportionally accurate and naturalistic, with a solid understanding of structure, light and shadow. The workshop is designed to give you a thorough introduction to the academic approach to drawing and enough practical experience that you will be able apply the skills to future work in your medium of choice.
