About this workshop
Spend the weekend with Stephie Clark and immerse yourself in creating bright, loose florals with pastel.
What will I learn?
Each day of the workshop, Stephie demonstrates exactly how she makes a painting from scratch, demonstrating techniques for her backgrounds and applying pastels with freedom and thoughtfulness.
You will paint from life as well as photos and discuss the differences. Stephie not only wants you to come away with some successful works, but also the confidence, knowledge and skills to keep practicing at home.
Each workshop participant will grow in experience and be able to apply skills that are relevant for their own artistic voice.
Stephie will guide you in creating beautiful pastel flower paintings.
Who is this course suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for all levels, including beginners.
What do I need to bring?
Soft pastels – an assortment of a minimum 90 artist grade, representing a full colour spectrum and value range is recommended. Sennelier Paris set of 120 half sticks are Stephie’s choice. Alternatively other recommendations are Extra Soft Art Spectrum, Sennelier, Blue Earth and Schmincke
White Schmincke pastel for flashes of light
Dark blue 463 and dark green 179, a deep purple preference for Stephie is Terry Ludwig or Art Spectrum extra soft flinders violet blue/red.
Flat box to keep your palette in
Pastel Paper
Pastelmat is the preferred support or Lux archival.
Paper colour, gray or darker. Lux archival only comes in white.
Preferred Size – 40 x 30cm
Glassine paper to safe keep your masterpieces.
Roll of masking tape to secure your paper to board.
4 x bulldog clips (used to secure paper)
Hand wipes
Towel to cover table.

Meet The Tutor
Stephie Clark is a soft pastel artist from Australia working mostly in her country studio at home in Armidale. She divides her time between painting in her studio and teaching workshops both here in Australia and overseas in France. Stephie is best known for her free and flowing florals and fruits – her style is uninhibited by rules and boundaries.
She is inspired by the nature and colours it produces. Her work has been featured in French magazine Practique des Arts and you can see her in action on her Patreon site. Stephie sells her art in her online shop around the world.
