About the workshop

Designed for the absolute beginner, this two-day workshop will introduce you to the wonderful world of watercolour painting! Jan will guide you step-by-step with learning all the basics you’ll need to create simple paintings of beautiful flowers. No drawing skills are required as references will be provided to transfer. Learn from an expert the methods of not only how to use watercolours correctly, but exactly what to avoid and how to fix mistakes.

Have an amazing weekend where all the materials are supplied, accomplishing paintings that you didn’t think were possible!

Who is this workshop suitable for?

Although this workshop is designed for beginners in watercolour, the more experienced are also welcome.

What do I need to bring?

Access to all painting materials will be available.

Please bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by.

About the Tutor

Jan Lawnikanis has been teaching weekly art lessons continuously for over 30 years and she has tutored over 250 workshops in various locations around Australia. Students in all mediums have praised Jan for her teaching skills and this has gained her an excellent reputation with all ages.

I n her personal art career, Jan’s beautifully presented work in various mediums has won many first prizes and other awards. Her commissions range from school theatre sets to a set for the QLD Conservatory of Music, 40 artworks for an apartment building, 15 artworks for an office floor, paintings for a restaurant as well as school murals and private works for client’s homes.

Jan has been the featured artist in Australian Artist Magazine, with 5 full-length articles on using coloured pencils. Other publications include the Paradise Magazine-GC Bulletin, Gympie Living magazine, Art Newsflash, International Watercolour Institute catalogue, Art Edit magazine, Fabriano in Aquarello catalogues, the Australian Coloured Pencil Network and Artwise textbook for the Australian School Curriculum_._ Jan has also published an e-book on using colour pencils as a fine art medium, and recently published two colour pencil guide books with colour wheels and swatch charts.
