About this class

This two-day workshop is especially designed for the adult beginner or intermediate who wants to learn more about painting landscapes with pastels. The class will include charcoal drawing, tonal studies, mark-making and colour selection based on the provided reference image and we will paint together in a fully tutored step-by-step process. At the end of the workshop you’ll have one completed Landscape painting to take home.

What will I learn?

Learn how to use tone and colour with pastels, discover the diversity of drawing and painting with the same medium, see how different strokes can create varied textures and learn about the layering process. This workshop is fully tutored and guided with Jeanne Cotter; it’s fun, educational, satisfying and a wonderful way to tap into your art in a safe and peaceful environment. Find out how to use soft pastels to paint clouds, sky, mountains, hills and grass.

Who is Jeanne Cotter?

Jeanne has been painting with soft pastels for around 15 years. She’s traveled to Italy on two art tours and currently teaches weekly classes for adults. Her classes were held in her home studio in Brisbane but when COVID arrived, Jeanne adapted by running her classes online and now has a regular attendance of students from all over the world.
Jeanne has won art competitions and is a competent soft pastel artist, and according to her students, she is a ‘brilliant’ teacher!
