Wattle Time With Acrylics | Jenni Kelly
Do you like a free style painting that combines abstraction, expressionism and Impressionism?
Be prepared to scrape, spray, roll and glaze paint! This workshop will introduce fellow artists to some Creative and Fun acrylics methods. In other words - "PLAY WITH ACRYLICS!"
Students will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of Acrylics and a new found confidence. The work will be Impressionistic - Fun and Free (style of work)!
What will I learn?
Jenni will provide a step-by-step guide to help students learn how to let loose and be creative.
Explore and discover various ways to paint using unconventional methods of painting with some unusual tools!
Students have the option of bringing their own reference photos, whether this be a bird, wattle, flowers and/or foliage to assist and guide them through their own painting.
Who is this suitable for?
All levels of experience are welcome!
What do I need to bring?
Acrylics Paints
(Any good brand) Atelier, Matisse
Paint Colours:
- Titanium White
- Antique White
- Pastel Pink
- Pacific Blue
- Dioxine Purple
- Ultra Marine Blue
- Phthalo Blue
- Australian Blue Gum
- Aqua Green Light
- Lemon
- Yellow Deep
- Pyrole Red
- Australian Yellow Green
Other items:
- Professional high gloss varnish
- Metal palette knife – number 15 – Mont Marte such as this example
- Plastic scrapers/Old Credit Cards
- A handful of assorted pastels/charcoal (for Sketching Image onto canvas)
- An assortment of bristle brushes - bring what you have
- One large house brush to varnish. (Can share).
- Water spray bottle
- Chux rags
- A good size water container
- Pad for your notes and sample of techniques
- Apron
- Please bring an old towel to cover your table.
Canvas:
• Suggested Canvas size 24x30 inches.
Jenni Kelly suggests Art Shed or Bargain City store for an affordable Mont Marte canvas.
All canvases are to be primed with one coat of Gesso before we start.
Please bring some reference relating to the subject (Jenni will also bring references.)
For just $50 you can have access to all the paints you need for this weekend workshop.
Please bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by.
About the Tutor
Jenni achieves a realistic expression in her creative freestyle painting leaving the viewer free to exercise their own imagination. These paintings have an appealing sense of colour, freedom and movement with subjects close to nature. Jenni regularly exhibits throughout Australia including 21 paintings hanging throughout the Holy Spirit Hospital at Chermside Brisbane.
