Seascapes in Oils - Made Easy | Marcel Desbiens

Learn to paint the frozen moment of a gentle rolling wave on the beach with a view on the background environment, headland and rocks. Capture the transparency, colour and texture of the water movement by using the right brush strokes and variation between translucence of colours and opacity of the white.

In this one day workshop, you will learn a quick and easy way to paint a realistic representation of water – still and in motion. Marcel’s expertise and easy to learn techniques developed over the years of experimentation and research, will enable you to achieve instant results.

What will I learn?

Through step-by-step demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ exercises, you will learn how to:

• capture the effects of the transparency of water, using layering techniques
• choose the right brushes and mediums to reproduce highly realistic effects

A new image to be painted will be presented on the day.

  • Usually if I am struggling with something and another person tells me, 'It's easy!' I roll my eyes and sigh. But when Marcel tells you it's easy, you can believe it!! In a one-day workshop Marcel showed me how easy it is to paint a couple of things I have always struggled with, namely: rocks under the water and a prominently featured headland mountain!! Thank you Marcel for sharing your treasure trove of knowledge and practical hints and tips......L.Day, Morayfield
