From Dark to Light in Acrylics | David Hinchliffe
About this workshop
Students will be shown how David works from darker background colours into light by painting the negative space to produce paintings that radiate.
Each participant will be guided by David in producing 2 paintings.
What will I learn?
You will learn the Hinchliffe technique - how to paint quickly and fluidly to produce paintings with energy and atmosphere.
David does not paint in a traditional way. This represents a new way of painting.
Special Instructions!
And you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes early to drop off your materials. Bring your charged phone or tablet of choice, because David will take you over to Newstead House (short walk) to start the day by taking photographs for the workshop. David will guide you in hints and tips in taking photos as subjects for paintings. You will use these photos in the workshop – it’s almost your own en plein air experience!

Course testimonials:
- 1. How much painting we actually got done on the weekend - nearly 4 paintings for me! 2, The ability to go at our own pace and ability to just sit back and what the tricks David applied for various paintings being undertaken by the participants. This gave be ideas and the inspiration to go back to my own and give them a try. 3. The encouragement of all participants towards me as a beginner...... Kevin P from Chelmer
- The whole two days were a wonderful experience and David was inspiring with his skill, knowledge and experience. It was a good size class and the venue was comfortable. Thank you for your great efforts to ensure that the class went ahead inspite of the flood devastation to your premises, I am most grateful. Meron from Teneriffe.
- Despite the terrible Brisbane flood, all efforts were made to make participants feel welcome. I have never enjoyed a workshop more. The company, ambiance and David the tutor, were brilliant.....Gabrielle B from Brisbane
