David has developed this course as a response to his own search for reliable techniques to accelerate and advance life drawing practice. When used in different combinations, these techniques will give you the foundational skills needed to tackle any pose with confidence.

These transferable skills can be used to investigate anything you might want to draw, using timeless and proven techniques that will improve your drafting.

What will I learn?

Learn the key to confident accuracy in your life drawings through a variety of block in techniques, artistic anatomy, the correct sequence for drawing the human form and much more.

You will learn a broad range of techniques amassed over years of research and study in this 2-day workshop designed for anyone with a love of drawing.

This workshop is designed for the emerging artist wanting clarity and direction for their life drawing practice.

What do I need to bring?

  • 2 sticks of Willow charcoal - not too thin
  • 6B woodless Graphite Pencil
  • 1 stick extra soft Compressed Charcoal
  • Kneadable Eraser
  • A2 newsprint pad (Reeves brand is fine)
  • Wet wipes to clean your hands

About the Tutor

David Bongiorno is an award-winning figurative artist working in Maleny, Queensland.  David has participated in solo and group exhibitions in venues including Steps Gallery, Brunswick, The Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, Manning Regional Art Gallery, Gatakers Artspace Regional Gallery and Caloundra Regional Gallery. 

He has undertaken private commissions, and has works in private and public collections. 
David has participated in local and national art prizes including “Emerging Wearable Artist Winner” at the Australian Wearable Art Festival 2022, "Highly Commended" at the 2023 Waterbrook Drawing Prize and has arts management, curation, teaching and mentoring experience.
