Exploring the Sensory Landscape in Watercolour | Libby Derham
About the workshop
This watercolour workshop will begin with a basic introduction to the watercolour medium, concentrating on becoming familiar with the tools you will be using on Day 2.
On the second day, you will walk across the road to Newstead Park where Libby will guide you in selecting a scene to sketch so you can capture the 'sensory landscape' around you.
Among other materials, you will be using: Wax Crayons, a selection of Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton colours, Taklon brushes, salt and drawing ink.
Who is this workshop suitable for?
Suitable for absolute beginners, but people with some previous experience in watercolour will also get a lot out of the Plein Air element.
What do I need to bring?
Access to all art materials will be provided, but we recommend you bring a small folding chair or cushion for sitting in Newstead Park during the Plein Air part of the workshop. We have folding chairs available at the studio if you don't have your own!
Please bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by. We do have a fridge at the studio for your convenience.
What else is provided?
- Tea, coffee and biscuits (please bring your own cup)
- A friendly, supportive and encouraging learning environment
- Connection to the Bienarté art community
