Learning Pathways - Drawing

Marcel has designed learning pathways to give students structure as they develop from novice to advanced artist.

If you have limited or no experience with Drawing, then we recommend you start with Introduction To Drawing with Annette Raff.

In 2024 we are offer an exciting collection of Life Drawing weekends - one per Term. We start with Annette Raff in February, and then Life Drawing, with Patrick J Jones in May. We round out the series with David Bongiorno in August. All three weekends are aimed at Beginners, but each tutor will bring different styles and techniques to this important art practice.

Throughout the year, Jan Lawnikanis will broaden your drawing techniques and use of materials in a friendly and supportive environment.

Mixed Media on Canvas | Tricia Reust

Over the course of the weekend, we will explore completing one smaller work with a minimal approach, and the other larger work incorporating all the techniques to be covered, including glazing, printing, stencilling and stamping. Over the course of the weekend, we will cover theory of facial features and basic design concepts with portraits and explore the portrayal of the human head. Pastel Still Life and Collage | Tricia Reust

Over the course of the weekend, we will look at brief theory of design, particularly for collage; how pastel can be used as a wet medium as well as dry. Tricia’s teaching process includes theory, handouts and demonstrations. What will I learn? Pastel techniques especially stroke-making and brief colour theory.
